Jamie Greene

Second on the West Scotland Regional List

Meet Jamie Greene

Jamie Greene is the Scottish Liberal Democrat candidate that is second on the West Scotland regional list.

Born and bred in Greenock, he studied at James Watt college before embarking on a successful career in digital technology and broadcast media. He has lived and worked throughout the UK and oversees and speaks fluent Spanish, French and conversational Irish!

Jamie has been an MSP for the West Scotland region since 2016. In this time, he has served on several committees, including Rural Affairs and Islands, Equalities, Education, and Justice. Latterly, he was deputy convener of the Public Audit Committee at Holyrood and Deputy Chair of the Scottish Commission for Public Audit, which oversees Audit Scotland.

Among his achievements in Holyrood are paving the way for successful legislation protecting the victims of crime and securing an additional £300million for Scottish Liberal Democrat priorities, such as small businesses, colleges, and hospices, during his Budget negotiations with the Scottish Government in his role as finance and economy spokesperson for the Scottish Liberal Democrats.

He is also co-convener for cross-party groups on LGBTI+ and Taiwan, and a member of many others.

Jamie is a passionate campaigner for equality and inclusion and a keen participant in the activities of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association.

Outside of politics he enjoys travel, silversmithing, Eurovision, languages, fishing and painting.

He spends much of his free time being ordered around by Astro, a small but lovable rescue dog from Romania.
